JOHANNESBURG CENTURY RUN

 25 March 2012

Promoted by the Vintage Motorcycle Club

The Johannesburg Century Run is a Reliability and Regularity Trial for Classics Motorcycles promoted by The Vintage Motorcycle Club of South Africa

SAVVA CLEARANCE: 58-2012/VMC

THE VENUE
The event will take place on Sunday, 25th March, and will be based at the Riverstone Lodge, Muldersdrift. (Same place as last year - then called the Stone Cradle). Detailed directions are given below, and the GPS Coordinates are: S 26deg 2m 9.5secs. E 27deg 50m 33.7secs.

THE RIDE
There are two predetermined circular routes of approximately 54km and 40km. Riders are asked to set off from 10.30 am and complete one or more of either route. Veteran machines may, if desired, complete a shorter run of approximately 12km. Pre-ride Documentation will take place from 9.00 am where each rider must produce a valid Driver's Licence and a current (orange) SAWA Indemnity Card. New Indemnities may be taken out at Documentation.

ELIGIBILITY
The combined age of the rider and the motorcycle must be 100 years or more. The rider need not produce documentary evidence of age. The machine must be 20 years of age or older, but does not have to be SAWA dated. Motorcycle combinations and three-wheelers are most welcome.

The machine has to be able to operate legally on a public road (i.e. to be registered, licensed and roadworthy). No rally numbers may be displayed, so rally plates from other events must be removed or masked.

Riders, if they so wish, may wear period clothing in the form of old-fashioned helmets, goggles, leathers, flying jackets or jodhpurs. Every rider must nevertheless wear a high-visibility bib or jacket.

There is no entry fee but the meal at the Prize giving Lunch (their usual fabulous buffet) will cost about R 95.

AWARDS Two floating trophies are awarded.

The SENIOR AWARD for the highest combined age of rider and machine.

The NIPPER AWARD for the greatest difference between the rider and the machine, where the machine is older than the rider. There is also a prize for the best "period outfit".

For the purposes of calculating the results, it is assumed that all riders are born on the first day of their year of his/her birth, and that all bike were manufactured on the first of January of their year of manufacture. In the event of a tie for either of the awards, the riders' actual dates of birth will be used to recalculate the riders' ages.

The decision of the Organiser in all age matters shall be final. The same rider/machine combination will not be able to win the Senior Award more than once, but will receive a commemorative Winner's Yellow Jacket which can be worn at all future events Commemorative Certificates will be awarded to all participants, as follows:

PLATINUM for a rider whose age plus that of his machine is 175 years or greater.

GOLD for a rider whose age plus that of his machine is 150 years or greater.

SILVER for a rider whose age plus that of his machine is 125 years or greater.

BRONZE for a rider whose age plus that of his machine is 100 years of greater.

Each Finisher's Certificate is printed in advance so that it can be presented to the rider immediately after the event. Accordingly, no entry forms will be accepted by the Organiser after 22nd March, 2012.
